About the Hotel
Gulf Hills Hotel & Conference Center in Ocean Springs is perfectly nestled within the prestigious residential community of Gulf Hills. The exquisite waterfront backdrop is a display of nature’s finest with land that rolls right alongside lush marsh of the tree-lined Old Fort Bayou. Of course, this picturesque scene is optimum for the 18-hole championship Gulf Hills Golf Course located right at the front door of the hotel.
The stunning beauty that surrounds the historic 52-room boutique hotel and 5,000-square-feet of meeting and banquet space is only a reflection of the southern splendor guests enjoy when they stay at Gulf Hills — a hospitality experience that is second to none. Not only will guests savor luxurious accommodations and amenities in a relaxed atmosphere set in the privacy of quiet seclusion, the best dining, shopping and recreational activities the Mississippi Gulf Coast has to offer are only a short drive away with Highway 90 to the south and the interstate to the north.
Southern Living, Southern Traveler, Southern Breeze, and National Geographic are a few of the many publications that have been captured by this coast jewel. Gulf Hills Hotel & Conference Center is an experience where small town charm meets impeccable service to create an unforgettable home-away-from-home stay in a place that’s full of history and folklore — a place where legends have also laid their heads to rest.
Monroe, Garland and Mansfield are just a handful of the well-known faces who recognized the one-of-a-kind treasure found in Gulf Hills. Even the “King of Rock and Roll” himself frequented the facility during the summers of 1951 to 1957. To honor that remarkable imprint, guests have the opportunity to stay in the “Love Me Tender, Love Me Suite” — a resplendent 2,000-square-foot suite designed as a special tribute to the music man whose footsteps have graced the property.
The story of Gulf Hills Hotel & Conference Center is a rather spicy tale that dates back to 1927 when Braniger Brothers Development of Chicago, Illinois, built the hotel with purportedly laundered mob money as a hideout for mafia boss Capone. Word started to spread about the splendor of this unique waterfront hotel, and before long, a masted schooner called the “Fairy Queen” was in route to pick up guests from New Orleans and drop them off right at the back door of Gulf Hills.
Though the hotel is full of history, by no means is it antiquated. Filled with signature detail and marked with a uniquely unforgettable undertone, the hotel’s simple elegance is reflected throughout with continual restorations to ensure guests experience southern hospitality at its best. Whether one’s stay is for leisure or business, guests also can take advantage of a long list of amenities that include a deluxe continental breakfast, complimentary Wi-Fi, Olympic size outdoor saltwater pool, lighted rubico tennis courts, and more — all this in a 100 percent smoke-free environment.
